Why Capsule exists
November 2023.
I’m tidying up my studio after a shoot. My external hard drive slides off the table. A one-metre fall. Sounds like nothing. Except that drive held 2 years of YouTube footage and videos of my cat who has since passed away…
500+ hours of footage. Dozens of projects. Memories I will never get back. I tried every recovery tool out there. Nothing. $1,200 spent at a specialist lab. The files were unrecoverable. That day, I understood two things.
1. Hard drives die. Always. The question isn’t “if”, it’s “when”. And when it happens, it’s too late.
2. Cloud storage costs a fortune.Dropbox? $89.99/month for 10 TB. Google Drive? Same story. Just to archive projects I no longer touch? Absurd. So I built the solution I was looking for: cut-price cloud storage, designed for content creators who produce hundreds of gigabytes every month. No hard drives hitting the floor. No subscriptions blowing up the budget.
Just your archives, safe, at an honest price.
